The materials around us affect, among other things, air, sound and temperature. Therefore, a Nordic group of researchers, architects, wood product manufacturers and a county forester want to take a closer look at how a natural material such as wood can have positive health effects.
We will investigate whether, for example, it contributes to an improved and shorter rehabilitation in care environments, a better learning environment for school children and lower sickness absence at workplaces. We will make existing and new knowledge more readily available for wood-based industries.
And most importantly, that the buildings we live in become even better to be in.
Nordic Network on Health and BioMaterials (NNHBM)
The Nordic Network on Health and BioMaterials (NNHBM) is open and informal. Here we share knowledge crosswise, between different professionals from different disciplines, and with an interest in the link between materials and health in different ways.
We meet digitally once a month and update each other in the field of wood and health. The meetings take place in Teams in English, as we have participants from different countries. Here there are PhD students, woodworkers, architects, a neurobiologist, a doctor and researcher, a designer, researchers in wood technology and architecture and more.
The coordinator for the network is Christina Qvam Heggertveit, who is the county forester and “Tredriver” in Møre og Romsdal. The network is open to all interested parties.
A desire to participate in the meetings can be reported to Christina Qvam Heggertveit, see contact details on the website for Statsforvaltaren i Møre og Romsdal.
